Police officer mobilises relief food for 1 000 households
Mangochi Police Station spokesperson Amina Tepani Daudi has donated food items to 1 000 vulnerable households in the district to cushion them from food shortages during the lean season.
Each household received a 25-kilogramme bag of maize flour, two packets of sugar, five packets of soya pieces and salt.

Daudi, who distributed the items at Mangochi Stadium on Tuesday, said she observed that many households in the district were struggling to access food.
She said: “As you are aware, I am a police officer whose primary responsibility is to enforce the law and maintain security.
“However, after seeing the difficult conditions people live in, I felt it was necessary to assist those facing hardships.”
Daudi urged those who are financially capable to extend a helping hand to vulnerable communities.
“This is what compelled me to approach Mai Malawi Charity Trust to reach out to vulnerable people regardless of their religious background,” she said.
A beneficiary, Patricia Lemani Chikonzela, thanked the trust and Daudi for the support.
“We did not harvest enough last year and have been experiencing persistent food shortages. This support means we now have something to eat,” she said.
Another beneficiary, Lucy Mustafa, who is observing the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, said the donation will help her family have food when breaking the fast.
Mai Malawi Charity Trust has been working with Daudi to support vulnerable communities since 2023 when the country was affected by Cyclone Freddy.
